Rand Water | Integrated Annual Report 2025

OUR STAKEHOLDERS AND STRATEGIC PARTNERS Proactive stakeholder engagement is a critical element of the Rand Water business operation, which creates sustainable value. During the period under review, we have continued to ensure extensive communication with our key stakeholder groups.

STAKEHOLDERS REASONS FOR ENGAGEMENT

Value Created

• Strategic alignment between Rand Water and the Department of Water and Sanitation. • To support and participate in Shareholder led events and activities within the water sector. • Interaction with shareholders on matters referred by the Board.

Rand Water is the largest water board in Africa. Rand Water buys raw water from DWS and converts this water to clean drinkable water, and some raw water is sold untreated to Non-Potable Customers. The total water purchases in 2024/25 financial year amounted to R7.9 billion from DWS. The organisation also retained good Return on Assets of 9%. Despite the challenges presented by the external environment, Rand Water was able to generate strong gross, net income margins and asset turnover. This translated into positive returns’ ratios for shareholders. In line with the Remuneration Committee policy, Board members were compensated in accordance with the policy and numbers of hours claimed. Rand Water has achieved an impressive 1.61% employee turnover ratio. Underscores strong personnel controls that the organisation has implemented over the year to retain key resources. Our employees continued to benefit from competitive remuneration and non-guaranteed Short-Term Incentives which are performance based. Rand Water salary bill for the year amounts to R3.9 billion and R155 million was spent on training. Rand Water fulfilled this value proposition by supplying 1 737 841 Mℓ/ for year 2025, with average daily demand of 4 574 Mℓ/d, uninterrupted water supply and meeting all compliance requirements of highest drinkable water standards such as SANS 241.
