OUTCOMES
Value was created within each of Rand Water’s 6 Capitals:
1. Finance Capital • Access to Funding and cost-effective debt funding • R6.4 bn Net Cash Generated from Operations. • Revenue increased by 5.07% to R22.9bn (2024:R21.8bn) • 9% Return on Average Assets • EBITDA R3.86bn (2024:R3.95 bn) 2. Manufactured Capital • The total value of property, plant, and equipment assets now amounts to R32.6 bn (2024: R30.8bn) • Our commitment to the CAPEX renewal programme has led to enhanced operational integrity of our bulk water infrastructure. • We are making significant strides in the execution of our planned Additional Water Supply (AWS) scheme, which aims to augment capacity by an impressive 600 million litres per day. 3. Natural Capital • 24/7 Water Supply • SANS 241 Quality treated water • Achieved Zero days interrupted supply 4. Human Capital • Employer of choice to attract and retain staff. • Permanent staff compliment of 3 572 • Functional legislative training and conference instances: 7 330 • Bursaries awarded to employees: 195 • Staff Turnover; achieved: 1.61% Target: 5% • Unemployed youth: Learnerships 102 , Bursaries 41 , Graduate development programmes 182 5. Intellectual Capital • Rand Water Institute: Established a fully functional Innovation department responsible for driving the innovation risk-based strategy. • There has been significant knowledge generated for Rand Water which has culminated in new knowledge; new skills; and smarter ways of doing things • Rand Water nominated as one of the Top 4 Utilities for the Public Agency of the Year Award 2024 (Global) in recognition for innovation leading cutting-edge projects through the Rand Water Institute. 6. S ocial and Relationships Capital • Continuous customer engagements resulting in improvements to water efficiency management and positive response to Debt collection • Successful communication of shutdown plans to customers • Rand Water Foundation implements dedicated Corporate Social Investment projects to support our communities. • Water Wise continued work in schools and communities, resulting in water savings. • Socio-Economic Development resulted in smooth facilitation of CAPEX implementation.
