External bursaries A total of 41 external bursaries were awarded to deserving young people, keeping in line with 2023/24 financial year’s actuals of 40 recipients. Our performance in this regard is double our target of 20. Learnerships During the 2024/25 financial year, the number of learners registered for learnerships was 105, significantly higher than the set target of 60. Graduate and experiential A total of 182 individuals were participants in our Graduate and experiential programmes benefitting from being placed in areas where they got hands-on work experience for the period of the programmes. Target of 105 exceeded by 73%. RAND WATER ACADEMY In the 12 years since Rand Water Academy’s establishment, it has become a beacon of superior experimental and professional development by addressing critical resource challenges faced by Rand Water and the broader water sector, not just locally, but abroad too. The Academy has remained true to its mission of equipping unemployed graduates with the skills needed to thrive in a dynamic global job market. It features a team of accomplished mentors and industry experts who offer deep knowledge and practical experience, fostering a learning environment that is both interactive and impactful. National Treasury Graduate Internship Programme This initiative emphasises the growth and certification of participants in their specific areas, backing Professional, Vocational, Technical, and Academic Learning (PIVOTAL) initiatives, which are a crucial component of the National Skills Development Strategy III. Currently, 39 bright minds are advancing through the programme across engineering, natural sciences, quantity surveying, town planning, construction project management, and geographic information systems (GIS).
Our graduates dominated the National Treasury awards with the following: • 1 st Place, Project Presentation (Town Planning, GIS and Land Survey) • 1 st Place, Project Presentation (Engineering) • 1 st Place, Project Presentation (Construction Project Management and Quantity Surveying) • 2 nd Runner-Up, Natural Science Profession
