The Senior Women’s Captain and one u18 girl was invited to receive sports bras from the MEC of Sport and the Gauteng Premier at the John Barrable Hall in Benoni North. The Rugby Africa Women’s Cup was held on 9 August 2019 at the Hoerskool Kempton Park. The u18 girls were invited to play in the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup for Women’s Month against u18 Blue Bulls with a total of 22 girl players and 4 management staff. On 10 August 2019, the u18 girls attended a Coaching Clinic at Kempton Park with a total of 122 women players and coaches including participants from other countries. The Xerox Golden Lions Women’s Team played on 17 August 2019 at the Brakpan Rugby Stadium: Rugby Africa Women’s Cup against Valke Women, with a total of 26 players. The game was attended by a total of 242 women and 5 management staff. The 40 Indigenous Games (IG) Clubs participated in the Provincial Festival hosted on 3 September 2019 at VUT Isak Styl Stadium where Team Gauteng was selected to participate in the National Festival held from 21-27 September 2019 at Seshego Stadium, Polokwane. Coaches of ¿ ciated and participated as the technical selection team for
the code. Team Gauteng IG obtained 5th position in the national festival among the 9 provinces that participated. The 40 Indigenous Games Clubs assist the 5 Corridors to implement programmes on a monthly basis. The department in collaboration with the 5 Corridors hosted the launch and rollout of the wellness programme during February 2020 with a total of 2 961 (1 298 male and 1 663 female) participants. Of these, 2 610 were young people; 351 elderly; which included 47 PWD.
