KING IV PRINCIPLES APPLICATION 2025 Rand Water complies with the principles of King IV, and the Board encourages the organisation to uphold the governance principles and recommended practices contained therein and to align its practices, policies, and procedures thereto. During the reporting period, Rand Water has applied the principles of King IV and the table below provides details.

The Board leads ethically and effectively by upholding values such as integrity, competence, responsibility, accountability, fairness, and transparency. It sets the ethical tone and governs based on relevant laws and policies. The Board is committed to discharging its fiduciary responsibilities in terms of common law and in line with relevant legislative, policy and regulatory prescripts. The Board governs ethics through approved policies, an external whistle blowing facility, managed by an external independent entity and staff members are trained continuously in the effective operation of this facility. An external ethics assessment was conducted by The Ethics Institute to guide improvements. Quarterly reports are submitted to the Social and Ethics as well as the Group Audit and Risk Committees on progress made against the approved mitigation plans to reduce white collar crime and ethics-related breaches. The Board ensures compliance with the Constitution and laws, monitors impact in the workplace, economy, society, and environment. It oversees Board diversity and separation of roles between the Chairperson and Group Chief Executive. The ESG Quarterly reports are submitted to the Social and Ethics Committee on progress made against the approved ESG Reporting Framework.
