His extensive expertise includes Business Process Optimisation, Executive Coaching and Mentoring, Change Management, Project Management, Industrial Relations, Stakeholder Management, Multiparty Negotiations, Risk Management, Marketing, Retail Management, and Community Development. Appointed as a Member of the Eminent Person Group (EPG), he provided oversight for drafting the White Paper and Telecommunications Act of 1996. He has initiated, managed, and led impactful projects, including the Municipal Infrastructure Performance Management Information System (MIPMIS), the Intelligent Number Plate and New Number Plate Combination System, Telecentres, an Early Warning System for Service Delivery Unrests, and Driver Licence Testing Centres Data Cleanup for audit compliance. Additionally, he has actively steered B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) consortia and secured substantial capital to acquire shares in private- and public-sector entities. Furthermore, his background includes significant leadership roles within trade unions and civil society.
Mr. Ramateu Monyokolo (61) Non-Executive Member (Chairperson)
Mr. Monyokolo was initially appointed to the Board of Rand Water on 17 February 2016, and he was subsequently reappointed for a second term on 20 September 2018. He is currently serving his third consecutive term following reappointment on 21 September 2022. He holds the position of Chairperson of the Board as well as the Nominations Committee. Previously, he served as a Member of the Human Resource and Remuneration Committee, the Group Risk Committee, and the Capital Investment Committee. Mr. Monyokolo also acted as the employer trustee for the Rand Water Provident Fund (RWPF), occupying roles such as Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson of the Investment Committee, and Member of the Audit and Risk Committee. Additionally, he represented the RWPF on the Black Business Growth Fund II (BBGFII) Investment Advisory Committee. Other Governance Leadership Roles Mr. Monyokolo serves as the Chairperson of the recently established Association of Water and Sanitation Institutions of South Africa (AWSISA) Non-Profit Company (NPC), an organisation that advocates for the interests of Water Boards, Catchment Management Agencies (CMAs), the Water Research Commission, and the Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority and other organisations. He serves as an Independent Trustee for the Liberty Lifestyle Retirement Annuity Fund, Lifestyle Retirement Preserver Pension Fund, and Lifestyle Retirement Preserver Provident Fund. Additionally, he is the Chairperson of the Legal Committees and a Member of the Audit and Risk Committees. He holds the position of Chairperson at Africa Beyond Fourth Industrial Revolution (AB4IR) NPC, a hub dedicated to digital innovation and incubation.
