PART A: GENERAL INFORMATION

Appreciation First and foremost, I thank every member of the Council team for being the dedicated hearts, smart minds, and hard-working hands behind the work described in this report. Your commitment is deeply appreciated. The guidance and support of our Chairperson, Eileen Meyer and the rest of the Council Board she so professionally leads ensure that the Council consistently holds itself to best-practice corporate governance standards. The cooperation and collaboration of the National Treasury, fellow regulators including the FSCA and the National Credit Regulator, and a wide range of consumer education stakeholders enable the Council to maximise what we are able to achieve with our own modest resources.

Lastly but crucially, the constructive and transparent spirit of engagement with the ombud schemes themselves is invaluable. I thank the Head Ombud of the NFO, Reana Steyn and the NFO Lead Ombuds; the FAIS Ombud, John Simpson; and the most recently appointed member of the financial sector Ombud family, the Pension Funds Adjudicator Lebogang Mogashoa, for their shared commitment to an ombud system that truly works for the financial customers who depend on it for fair redress.
