Name of the Objective (IP02): Create the first port of call on all mining OHS matters within the South African mining industry through OHS knowledge hub. Definition: Create a mining OHS knowledge hub and implementation of Centre of Excellence Strategic Objectives. Initiative 3: Review and implement the IT Master Plan to support the CoE. • There were delays in the procurement of a service provider to develop the ICT Master Plan. A service provider was appointed in quarter four and the ICT Master Plan was developed and will be presented for approval by Council in the first quarter of 2020/21 financial year for implementation. Reasons for Variance • There were delays in the procurement of a service provider to develop the ICT Master Plan. Initiative 4: Dissemination and utilisation of MHSC intellectual Property as part of contribution to technological innovation. • Two projects, namely “development of Rock Mass Assessment Tool” and “development of the Collison Management System” were identified for licensing of IP. As part of commercialisation, the MHSC appointed service providers to conduct market assessment and for Intellectual Property (IP) registration. Reasons for Variance • The service providers could not finalise the milestones that were due as management learned during the process that it would take longer than originally anticipated in the Annual Performance Plan to register the IP. • Further work to ensure the projects are ready for IP registration will be finalised during the next financial year. Initiative 5: Implementation of CoE Phase 2 Business Plan. • The following initiatives were implemented as part of CoE Phase 2 Business Plan: ◊ Review the Signed MOU with MQA and identify gaps. ◊ Draft ToR for CETM. ◊ Appoint Committee members for CETM. ◊ Input into the development of the training materials for the programme. ◊ Identify two projects with technologies currently implemented. Reasons for Variance • The following initiatives were due in the reporting period were not implemented due to the late establishment of CETM: ◊ Develop a simulation technology i.e. training video was not done.
