The declaration of the National State of Disaster and the National Lockdown in March 2020 by the State President had a negative effect on the number of Casino visitors since the Casino establishments had to implement measures that limit the number of visitors in the Casinos in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amongst the punters and Casino employees. The restrictions were relaxed in the period 2021/22 which resulted in an increase of the total number of visitors by 252 883 punters (33.86%) in 2021/22, contrary to a decrease of 1 236 115 (71.44%) from 2019/20 to 2020/21. The annual increase in Casino patronage is mainly in the first quarter that ended in June 2021.
