In 2020/21 there was less distribution of gambling machines due to the closure of some gambling establishments for some months under the state of national disaster; however, as the restrictions related to state of national disaster were relaxed in 2021/22, licensed Operators and Manufactures distributed gambling machines to various locations. As a result there was a 60% sharp increase in gambling machines distributed during 2021/22 financial year.

Fewer applications for approval of Letters of Certification were received during the financial year. This may be attributed in part to the restrictions of state of national disaster, as there was a restricted number of punters allowed in gambling establishments and the number of gambling positions was restricted due to social distancing measures. Some of the gambling establishments had also reached capacity to accommodate new hardware such as Slot machines, Electronic Bingo Terminals and limited Payout Machines hence there was no need to procure new hardware by most Licensees. The prevailing economic conditions and lack of certainty regarding COVID-19 also contributed to Licensees not willing to invest more on new software, hardware and the upgrade or procurement of new Monitoring and Control Systems.
