Overview of Performance of the Gauteng Chamber for the 2023/24 Financial Year
Post Provisioning and Norms During the 2023/24 fiscal year, the Employer presented reports at the quarterly Chamber meetings. However, the Employer failed to present the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), citing challenges due to government planning processes, which negatively affected this activity in the fourth quarter. Employee Health and Wellness The employer presented progress reports on the implementation of employee wellness programmes to the task team, and the reports were presented and ratified at the quarterly Chamber meetings. Implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) depended on internal stakeholders such as infrastructure planning, property management, maintenance, asset management and auxiliary services. Furthermore, the Employer reported experiencing a lack of commitment from internal stakeholders to attend OHS meetings. Safety in Schools The Employer reported its partnership with the South African Police Service (SAPS), Community Policy Forums, and Community Patrollers to ensure safety in schools in hot-spot areas. In the 2023/24 fiscal year, the employer conducted Guided Prison Tours targeting schools at risk (75) and priority schools (275) to discourage learners from engaging in unlawful activities.
