Collective Agreement 4 of 2016 The placement report depicted 628 educators in substantive posts and 361 promotional posts. Progress recorded in the placement of educators to staff establishments revealed that out of 837 excesses, 362 were placed at the end of September 2023, and 475 were outstanding due to distance and curriculum-related issues. Post Provisioning for 2024 The positive results of concluding post-provisioning consultation processes within prescribed timeframes and issuing final staff establishments to all schools were noticeable, affording school Management Teams ample time to prepare for the new academic year (2024). Employee Health and Wellness The second quarter report highlighted 259 employees screened for non-communicable diseases, with awareness campaigns conducted in all the districts. Approximately 347 active cases were reported. Of these, 164 were attended to, 18 finalised and 42 cases were referred externally. The third quarter report showed that of 351 active cases, 99 were attended to. Wellness sports events were held and a wellness gym was launched. A Well-Being Seminar was held, with 32 schools participating. School Safety The report highlighted that capacity building was provided and 29 School Safety Committee members were trained on drug testing. District Safety Steering Committees were launched in all the districts and were expected to: • Develop a comprehensive school safety and violence prevention plan for the district • Lead the efforts to identify school safety needs and interventions and select appropriate interventions based on identified needs • Support schools for the implementation of safety plans, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of school safety initiatives in the district • Mobilise communities to protect their schools and advise the Provincial School Safety Steering Committee on priority matters relating to safety in schools A comprehensive report showed the capacity-building initiatives that were provided, the School Safety Committee members who were trained in five districts and other activities focused on a multi-sectoral response to school safety, anti-crime awareness campaigns, Safety Steering Committees launched, schools monitored and supported safety and interventions put in place based on findings. Dispute Prevention The task team progress reports presented grievances and disputes that were declared. The report further highlighted training conducted on the implementation of FSCA 1 of 2019 and prevalent challenges on recruitment processes as well as grievances emanating from the published Vacancy List 1 of 2023. Grade R and ECD related matters The progress report highlighted that 695 Grade R Practitioners were trained. Documents were submitted to the Education Training and Development Practices - Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP-SETA) for funding of 300 Grade R practitioners. Monitoring of the curriculum was also conducted in 179 ECD centres that were visited. Roadshows were conducted to address issues related to ETDP-SETA-funded practitioners. Training was provided for Grade R practitioners and also on overall management of Grade R-related issues.
