1. HUMAN RESOURCES OVERVIEW HR plays a key role in developing, reinforcing and changing the culture of an organisation. The Human Resources department is responsible for recruiting, screening, interviewing and placing workers within the organisation. It also oversees employee relations, payroll, benefits, training and development. The department also plan, direct and coordinate the administrative functions of an organization. In doing so, the function is guided by its vision of working in partnership with other functional areas in the organisation. The Human Resources Department is responsible for ensuring that the CAV has the human resources capacity to deliver on its mandate. The department supports employee morale and helps employees develop a deeper commitment to the company and its goals.

Professional Development Professional Development enhance the employment experience for all employees through a comprehensive orientation process, an assessment-based professional development initiative and increased opportunities to highlight appreciation to and recognition for achievements and accomplishments. This was achieved by conducting needs assessment for the professional development of CAV staff; addressing need for specialized training for skilled positions; and strengthens supervisory support for staff to attend training. Policies and Procedures To ensure that the organisation has an updated set of employment governance document, the department develop, review and implement institution wide Human Resources policies that meet the evolving needs as the organisation grows. By doing this a standard operating procedure for all HR functional areas including performance standards were reviewed and all changes communicated. Talent Management Through Talent Management, the HR department was able to design strategies and programs to hire, deploy, develop and retain the best people in their respective fields. This was achieved through establishing discipline and best practices around a culture of talent management through a comprehensive and competitive recruitment focus and competing for top talents. Diversity was identified as a key pillar to our talent management strategy, as a result, the department strategically define the organisation’s workforce in order to attract and retain the best and brightest talent and help them become successful. The wellness and work/ life programs were strengthened to enhance retention. Engaging employees to achieve results. To achieve this the CAV concluded a series of highly visible internal awareness campaigns and reminders on the values and beliefs through various workshops. The focus is to ensure that employees actively engage with the values and beliefs of day-to-day business; to connect and engage
The Human Resource Department is committed to providing strategic and quality HR services to the company’s internal and external stakeholders. The Key HR objective is the attraction and retention of staff. To realise our mission and vision as an entity, the following HR strategic imperatives will be considered: Strategic Partnerships Through strategic partnership the HR department is committed to enhance and expand the strategic direction and focus of HR Services in alignment with the CAV’s mission and strategic plan. By facilitating the development and implementationofhumanresourcestrategies thedepartment promote an inclusive and welcoming workplace throughout the organisation and enhance employee engagement and recognition. By doing this the department has develop Standard Operating Procedures and Performance Standards for all HR processes, and partner with service providers for the wellbeing of staff through a Wellness program.
