In hosting this event, the City of Tshwane Municipality provided water bottles for the delegates while Vision View Sports Radio covered the dialogue live at no cost to the department. The dialogue was attended by 201 athletes (14 male and 187 female) and included 13 PWDs. Donations were received were the water bottles from the City of Tshwane municipality; 200 magazines from True Love Magazine; 200 Playboy Aerosol Sprays from Amka Products; and 300 pens from Fizique. The guest speakers included Gauteng woman in sport such as Ms Lwandile Simelane, Board member of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC), Gauteng woman legend in sport Dr Dimakatso Ramagole and sport psychologist Ms Marteleze van Graan. Ms Lindiwe Dube, a Supersport presenter, steered the programme on the day. The three panel discussions titled ‘Champions, Coaches and Trailblazers’ were moderated by Ms Nomsa Mahlangu, President of the Federation of African University Sport and Senior Director, University of Johannesburg Sport Bureau followed by the coaches moderated by Ms Dumisani Chauke, Proteas’ netball Assistant Coach. The “Trailblazers” panel was moderated by Ms Pearl Mosoane, Media Of ¿ cer at the University of Pretoria Football Club. Panel members included industry experts, pioneers and a diverse group of young people, legends, athlete with disabilities, LGBTIQA and women in sport from various sectors within the industry. The Gauteng City Region continues to be at the forefront of attracting international sporting events such as the Premier Social Cohesion rugby test match, 2019 (major event). The match was between the South African Springbok team and Australia on 20 July 2019 at Ellispark Stadium in Johannesburg, with approximately 51 206 people in attendance. The second leg took place on 17August 2019, where South Africa played against Argentina during the 2019 Rugby Union World Cup warm-up test match at Loftus Versfeld stadium in Pretoria. A total number of 2 407 jobs were created during this period. The Springbok team made history with the

inclusion of 8 African players in the starting15 for the ¿ rst time in a rugby match. The Springbok team won the 9 th edition of the Rugby World Cup Championships held on 2 November 2019 in Japan which became a national phenomenonworthy to be celebrated. Subsequently, the National Department of Sport and Recreation requested the South African Rugby Union (SARU) to extend the arrival press brie ¿ ng of 5 November 2019 to include in the O.R. Tambo International Airport welcome the thousands of fans anticipated to welcome the Springboks back home. The airport Welcome ceremony was hosted in conjunction with key stakeholders such as the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) and offered a unique opportunity to welcome the Rugby World Cup Champions for the ¿ rst time on home soil. The Rugby World Cup activation programme was aimed at stimulating nation building and social cohesion as well as creating awareness of and support for all the national teams competing in World Cups and on international platforms. The department implemented 2 campaigns. The SACR staff Sport Friday Activation employee advocates for the recognition and support of national sporting heroes demonstrated to the public that employees take pride in their work. The launch included staff wearing Sport Friday jerseys, announcement of game times and encouraging staff to wear their jerseys every Friday in support of the Springbok team and beyond. The Reiger Park public viewing was hosted during the match between South Africa and New Zealand on 21 September 2019. The activation was also screened live. The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnershipwith StadiumManagement South Africa hosted the 2 nd edition of the Shell Helix Ultra Cup (community event) on 14 October 2019 at FNB Stadium. The game was held between Kaizer Chiefs FC (Glamour Boys) and Mamelodi Sundowns FC (Tshwane Giants). Glamour Boys won by 4–2 in front of a crowd of approximately 36 000 spectators.
