b) Skills development

The entity spent R155.3 million (2024: R145.3 million) on skills development for all employees, which represents 4.89% of the total payroll and 96% (i.e. R149.1 million) of the total training spend was spent on African, Coloured and Indian employees which represents 4.69% of the total payroll. The entity spent R45.7 million (2024: R86.4 million) on unemployed previously disadvantaged people through training initiatives which include internships, apprenticeships and learnerships. This spend represents 1.4% of the total payroll. The entity absorbed 14 learners (2024: 8 learners). The information below provides the overall demographic representation in terms of beneficiaries of the various skills development initiatives that the entity undertook in the year under review.
