Overview of Performance of the North West Chamber for the 2023/24 Financial Year The Chamber activities convened during 2023/24 shared valuable contributions on North West programmes. The progress reports summarised hereunder seek to support submissions on the said contributions.
The Chamber meetings held during the period under review agreed that:
• The tools aimed at promoting the objectives of the reports on “School Safety” should be designed to minimise grievances related to the reports. • A campaign seeking to sensitise school principals on the risks of violation of Collective Agreement No. 2 of 2020 should be implemented after acknowledging that principals are not participating in terms of teaching. • In an attempt to minimise the high rate of disputes, it was agreed that: o Appeals and sanctions should be concluded within reasonable timeframes by the Employer. o Formal grievances related to alleged corruption of officials during disciplinary hearings should be submitted by labour. • The Chamber participated in the Human Resource Summit and Principals Seminar, respectively, convened by the Employer and SADTU. • The newly established project regarding the Labour Management Partnership Programme is supported by the parties. • The Chamber conducted workshops related to the conditions of service for SADTU members (office-bearers and school-principals) during August 2023. • The Chamber was also invited by SADTU to the Matric Excellence Awards function on 15 March 2024.
