Overview of Performance of the Eastern Cape Chamber for the 2023/24 Financial Year The Chamber’s performance during the 2023/24 financial year was in line with the set targets as contained in the approved Annual Performance Plan. The commitment displayed by Parties contributed to the achievement of all planned targets. All the expected reports were ratified at the quarterly Chamber meetings. Post-Provisioning Norms: The MEC for Education declared 52 817 posts for the 2024 post basket on 28 September 2023. After the declaration by the MEC, the first distribution workshop by the Head of Department together with PELRC parties and SGB association was held on 23 October 2023. Distribution principles were presented by the Department and parties agreed that the second distribution workshop should be convened. The second distribution workshop was held on the 6 November 2023 and finalised on the 9 November 2024. Labour and SGB associations were not pleased with the 299 Grade R allocations. The Department indicated that extra funding would be sourced to fund Grade R Posts. Parties agreed with the sourcing of funds by the department and further agreed on the establishment and training of structures. The close-up report was adopted at the Chamber meeting on 20 March 2024.
