Quarter 4 Activity Report

Way Forward / Recommendations: • We need a SADC Gender Commission, compelling the Southern Africa region to implement gender equality and equity transformative frameworks. We also need a global treaty on GBV and femicide i.e., tobacco treaty. Visit of the Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity Kenya: 29 March 2023 – Hybrid CGE Head Office: • A knowledge and information sharing session on the role of the Gender Commissions and gender equality work and processes to attain gender equality, equity and transformation. Way Forward / Recommendations: • A further engagement in Kenya on equality. SAPS Monitoring: 02 January 2023 – KwaZulu Natal (with Portfolio Committee), 22 – 23 February 2023 – Northwest: To assess the level of readiness and conditions of police stations and their services to victims of gender abuse and violence. Meeting between the CGE and GIA/GOPA: 26 January 2023 – Teams: • A knowledge and information sharing session where GIZ/ GOPA was interested in the functions of the institution, our legislative mandate and role and delivery of these. Meeting with South Africa’s High Commissioner to Tanzania: 09 February 2023 – Ambassador’s Residency Tanzania: • To discuss possible future partnerships in the “war” against gender disparities between the two countries with the Ambassador. Way Forward / Recommendations: • A collaboration in observing. Meeting with Tshwane University of Technology: 13 February 2023 – TUT Campus: • To pass condolences to the TUT community, get more facts about the incidents and use the opportunity to reflect on the progress TUT has made to-date since CGE engagement in 2014 and other subsequent engagement.
