educators form part of the Employee Health and Wellness Committee and meet on a monthly basis to monitor implementation of the programme. Through this committee, 13 300 condoms were distributed across the department and 117 employees were tested for HIV. Employees going for health risk assessments were provided with health information on STI, TB, HIV and AIDS. Employees were also provided with nutritional information relating to their chronic illnesses; and emotional and psychosocial support was provided to all employees requiring it. Employees diagnosed with chronic illnesses were referred for further assessments and were registered under the GEMS chronic programme and other medical aid schemes. • Counselling services and physical wellness programmes : the EHWP provides 24-hour counselling services for all DSACR employees and their immediate families. The service is outsourced to service provider Careways (Zinakekele Employee Health and Wellness Programme) and is provided at no cost to the employee. Services rendered are the Personal Support line, Face-to-face Counselling, Critical Incident Management and Managerial Consultancy. The table below shows the high- level counselling categories and types addressed through the EHWP during the reporting year. Mental wellbeing and health were the leading category, accounting for 55.1% of all cases.
All employees enter into performance agreements at the beginning of every ¿ nancial cycle, with subsequent mid-year assessments. The details for 2019/20 are: • 87.5% of SMS members signed their 2019/20 performance agreements; 50% concluded their mid-year reviews. Challenges affecting 100% target achievement included disputes and new appointments. • 76% of level 2-12 of ¿ cials signed their 2019/20 performance agreements. Challenges affecting 100% target achievement included the introduction of the new PMDS policy approved and implemented from 1 April 2019. The department paid 417 once-off bonuses to Levels 4-12 of ¿ cials for the 2018/19 ¿ nancial year during September and October 2019. 2.4 Employee Health and Wellness Programme (EHWP) • STI, HIV and AIDS management : A total of 20 Peer educators across the department assisted with the implementation of TB, STI, HIV and AIDS National Strategic Plan. The EHWP aims to create awareness, educate and encourage all employees to know their status and share information. For employees’ convenience, Peer educators are based in Head Of ¿ ce and all Corridors. Peer educators have also been trained to offer emotional support, contain and refer relevant cases to external providers while maintaining con ¿ dentiality at all times. Peer
